Guantanamo Baywatch= The Cramps + The Trashmen

Guantanamo Baywatch surfs straight out of Portland, Oregon  to drop this surf-punk, 11 – song LP, right into the lap of some poor unsuspecting rock ‘n’ roller. Opening with “Barbacoa,” a surf ride filled with distorted riffs that pay homage to the legendary “Wipeout” (The Surfaries.) Though this homage only, since Guantanamo Baywatch holds their own by playing upbeat tunes loud, rough and dirty. This is perhaps best displayed through “We Came with Dottie” and “Chest Crawl” as the new symbols of what surf-punk is going to look like from now on.  The vocals, provided by Jason Powell, while nearly unintelligible, are delivered with passion -filled moans that require only a sex charged atmosphere to allow for proper digestion.  This mix of upbeat and distorted surf garage-punk makes this record a must own for any rock ‘n’ roller looking for new kicks.
